Ricardo Regazzoni takes as a model an element of the engraving «Melancolia 1» by Albrecht Dürer from 1514.
It is a contemporary reinterpretation of Dürer´s engraving, whose inspiration is the scientific / philosophical knowledge of his time, the European Renaissance.
This work delves into the old problem of a circle´s quadrature, which is an unsolvable mathematical problem of geometry, and consists of finding – using onlya ruler and compass- a square that has an area that is equal to that of a circle.
